    This reminds me of David King's novel Vexil Excelsior, where the characters inhabit a world composed entirely of the designs of national flags. Similar to Flatland. More info: http://danielkingsblog.blogspot.com.au/2010/08/my-earlier-novel-vexil-excelsior.html
