Found Forest Floor

A short while ago, Found Forest Floor came out. It's a collaboration between myself and Erik Blagsvedt, and I'm very proud of it. It's about 250 pages of my artwork combined with Erik's poetry. The photos posted below are from my now slightly battered but well loved personal copy.

As an object, the book itself is really satisfying. As a read, I think most people who've already bought it have been dipping in and out, which is fine, but I strongly recommend reading it in longer bursts, as it has a strange, cumulative effect.

Full details can be found on my Intercorstal site here: https://intercorstal.com/found-forest-floor/

You can buy it from Createspace here (which I'd recommend for non-UK buyers): https://www.c4reatespace.com/734819

I'm doing a deal where you can buy direct from me and I'll draw on the inside page and include a page of artwork from the book, but postage costs make it a bit more expensive for anyone outside the UK. You can get that here: grthink.bigcartel.com

Mark Staff Brandl: Abstract Comics in Art History Class

Hi to Andrei and the group. Today I showed abstract comics, mostly from the anthology, but also the blog, to one of my Swiss art history classes (the Adult Foundation Course). It went great! I thought you might like to know. Mark

Wolf's Blood - Free PDF

UPDATE: As part of the continuation of this project, I've taken the links down for the time being. If you're particularly keen, email me at gareth@grthink.com

Hi all,

I've made the latest instance of Forestry Commission available to download. It's different frfom the others in a few ways, most notably it uses colour throughout and has text boxes, although still resolutely no narrative.

Download from here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4SfW4B59VgnYnBfTy1XSFhRYWc/view

Further to my previous post about 'Sugar Forest Fire', I've reworked that comic twice more - once into 'Rabbit On The Stairs', and then again into 'A Salted Wound'. Both are available to download from the following links:

Comics und Graphic Novels: Eine Einführung Baby

If you read German, there’s a recently released textbook, Comics und Graphic Novels: Eine Einführung by Julia Abel and Christian Klein (Publisher: J.B. Metzler. ISBN: 978-3-476-02553-1), that has a bit about abstract comics in one chapter on medium, form and narrative - “Was ist ein Comic?” :
